You know when you have a connection or “just click” with someone…? Well, I am fortunate enough to have those bonds with many of our clients and I just got an email from one of them. Working with families is definitely more than just taking photographs for me… it is an intimate insight into their lives they are showing me (as not many are shown that side). It is the trust, understanding, honesty, openess and willingness to work with each other on that level. Each time I am forever grateful and it is the simple things like a “hi” or “thank you” that I know I am reaching beyond just taking photographs.

Thank you Brooke… my heart beams with your beautiful words and thoughts. I hope you are enjoying Hong Kong and you are dearly missed! Much love and best wishes.

I am in the midst of designing our workspace and studio for the fall season. I have a million ideas for the space and now got more from my artist friend Veronica Funk today with several magazines called “Where Women Create“. Going through a few of these magazines this morning was like staring into my soul… everything I love were in these little creative paper manuals. Oooh’s and aaah’s were a plenty!

Aside from my daily cup of inspiration… I wanted to post a few images from a brother and sister session. I must say watching these two put a smile on my face. She just adored her brother… and he had a couple of dramatic eye rolls at her but the love shone through none-the-less. It is the instant friend and foe we all love with our siblings. Enjoy!

Circle de Photo

A different design for a collection of wall photographs can be using circular materials to frame the image. A cardboard or plastic tube, metals, cork, aluminum, etc. can all provide a unique border. Even circular objects may make an interesting dimension, like a drum, clock or breakfast trays! Have fun thinking and designing!

“Look at us, always rushed, always late; I guess that’s why they call it the human race”…. This is the first line of the movie “The Switch” I saw tonight. Watching movies is a major interest and passion of mine… I love the cinematography, story line, characters… absoultely everything about them. They are one of my major sources of inspiration and also provides humanity with a check and balance of reflection in their lives. This particular movie tugs at the heart of family and relationships. A high priority of what I do and value is showing and documenting these bits of relationships. Slow down for a moment, to capture this brief time in your life. It is what we are here for…

Let us take a journey…. this is Carla. I have seen her since the beginning, with a beautiful round belly to documenting little tidbits of her family’s life of her daughter’s journey to age one. We are kindered spirits. Each time I visit her, I am certain we must of known each other from a past life. It is a very rare feeling and bond. As per request… this post is for you Carla!

Our goal this time was to document a piece of the daily routine. When you take a peek into one’s life, it makes you think about the little joys and simple pleasures each person (and animal) brings into your life and how every family has the same needs, feelings and bonds. Check them out…

Do you have glass bowls or vases sitting empty on your mantel or side table? Dress them up by adding an assortment of photographs inside or beside them. Get a beautiful variety of sizes or add a colour into the mix to reflect your home decor style.

I think I love photographing children as much as I do because their souls are full of adventure, wonder, curiousity, fearlessness, unconditional love, wholesomeness, playfulness, passion, genuine emotion… relating with them on a level of trust and complete understanding is my challenge and I try to pull out the little person inside each time.

I am grateful for working with these two – you both put me back into a world of wonder and adventure. Thank you again and it was my pleasure “C”!

A new baby. A collision of excitement and fear with having a new baby is what gives us a higher sense of happiness. Just watching these two (as new parents) was a bitter sweetness. Knowing what it feels like holding and staring at a piece of yourself is mesmerizing. And knowing what the future developments of this new being is miraculous. Enjoy each other… life is bitter sweet!

Carefree. Do you know that feeling? The feeling of letting go… not having expectations… a schedule… whatever may come, comes… complete openess. The “W” family sums it up when it comes to the description of the word. They were a family that was wanting to just enjoy the evening with each other, let go and have some fun doing it.
